Identifying works played in clubs:

SACEM uses a service provider to take a survey of music played in a sample of clubs drawn up by a polling organisation, which takes into account the different kinds of music repertoire used in nightclub venues in France.

Identification of works played at festivals, concerts, etc.

The list of titles in a programme is used to calculate the allocation of rights.

There are two scenarios:

• Your DJ set is identical on each gig of a tour and you always play the same titles ("standard programme"). In this case your set list is used to allocate rights.
• Your DJ set is different each time. In this case the organiser of the event or the DJ must send the programme list to the SACEM regional office for the festival venue.

You can complete this programme yourself ("programme jaune") with the list of titles played, either in hard copy or online at www.sacem.fr/prg (in this case, ask the organiser for their "programme jaune" number and the corresponding code).

In addition to the set list, SACEM is setting up a new tracking system, which is being rolled out gradually in venues that have the technology and who have chosen to implement it.

To simplify things for the artists and make the identification of electronic music played in clubs and festivals more efficient, SACEM are planning to use a service provider to supply them with an exhaustive list of titles played.

The biggest clubs and festivals specialising in electronic music will be included (a list of these venues will be available on the SACEM site).

The advantage for DJs is that they will not need to declare anything at all, no “programme jaune” or standard programme (list of works played, see below) when performing at these venues or festivals.

You can submit a standard programme online in your member account on sacem.fr/en ( My member account/My dashboard/Registering a setlist).

This is a list of works (the set) that you play on tours (where the same set is played at every session). A programme number will be assigned to it. After each performance, all you need to do is complete an electronic music certificate containing the programme number and send it to your SACEM office.

You will then be classified as an arranger and receive the proportionate share of the rights to any other artist's song that you play, and the all the rights for titles of which you are the composer.

You can also complete a "DJ Programme " form, either in hard copy or by sending a digital file containing the list of works, to program.dj@sacem.fr. A program number will be assigned to the set. After each performance, all you need to do is complete an electronic music certificate containing the programme number and send it to your SACEM office.

You will then also receive the proportionate share of the rights to the songs of other artists that you play, and all the rights to titles of which you are the composer.

A programme jaune is used for single sets (either for a single gig that is not part of a tour, or because your sets are different every time).

You will receive the proportionate share of the rights to the songs of other artists that you play.

You can also enter the dates of the gigs you are playing so that SACEM has an overview of your activity, and can check that your declarations are completed correctly and calculate in advance the share of rights due to you. This service also enables you to keep track of your performance schedule and see your gigs on an interactive map.
